Windows Tips - How to hide certain drives

Just imagine you download a lot of unwanted stuff ( i mean pirated stuff... Dont go to far). And you temporarily want to hide it in certain situations. Well don't worry .... Windows XP has a solution.

STEPS TO FOLLOW

1. Go to Start>Run and type 'diskpart' without the qoutes.

2. Next type 'list volume' without the qoutes.

3. It'll look something like this

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volume### Ltr Label Fs Type Size Status Info
-------------- ---- ------ --- ----- ---- ------- -----

Volume 0 F DC-ROM
Volume 1 C NTFS Partition 7000MB Healthy
Volume 2 D soft NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
Volume 3 E ---- NTFS Partition 8000MB Healthy
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Suppose you want to hide the D drive. Type 'select volume 2' without the qoutes.

5. Then a message like this will appear { Volume 2 is the selected volume}. Now type 'remove letter D' without the qoutes.

6. Then a message will come up like this { Diskpart Removed the Drive letter }.

7. Sometimes they will ask you to reboot your computer .... Do so !!

There now the drive will be missing.

TO GET IT BACK

Follow the same steps above but in step 5, replace 'remove' with 'assign' without the qoutes. That is 'assign letter D'.

HOPE YOU LEARNT SOMETHING NEW !!!!!

WARNING : I HAVEN"T TRIED IT WITH C DRIVE..... ITS NOT ADVISABLE !!!
